Pickup Artistry in article in GQ

Posted by Blade On December - 13 - 2007

I came across This months(December 2007) GQ magazine while visiting a friend today. To my surprise I saw “Pickup Artistry: Can Pick up Lines Work” on the front cover.

December 2007 GQ

The article briefly goes through some of the key features in PUA such as peacocking, neg theory and acronyms like AFC. It event mentioned some of the communities prominent members and their products. Its an interesting read for beginners I recommend that you pick it up if you don’t know much about PUA.

But this also got me thinking about current PUAs and the whole struggle between using stock material or cultivating natural game.
I’m great proponent of natural game. One of the major reasons for this is because of articles like in the GQ and shows like Mystery’s “The Pickup Artist” show on VH1.

Whether we like it or not PUA is becoming more main stream . Canned material will slowly turn into cliches and and will be called lame “pickup lines”.

The best way not to sound fake or disingenuous is to use material born of your own experiences.
The canned material is only meant to be used as training wheels and examples.
You need to understand the principles of why the popular canned materials like the “jealous girlfriend” opener work and THEN use those principles to construct your own material.

I know some guys often tell me that they don’t feel their lives are interesting enough to draw from. This is bullshit. Everyone has a few stories and interesting situations to draw from. Take a closer look.
If you cant see it then well perhaps you need to do something about your life to make it more interesting.

Drawing from your personal experiences makes your material genuine and you will be congruent.

I’m glad you are starting a blog. It’s always an interesting experience to write your own thoughts down, even when it’s related to picking up women.

No matter what you learn through your journey, I know it’ll be a fun one :)

On a side note, your poll is missing a lot of the methods out there so it’s hard to pick if the poll doesn’t offer the answer I’m looking for. Take a look at how I categorized the Community in one of my post if you need: http://www.kissntale.com/2007/03/17/the-seduction-community-a-confusing-mess/

    Take care,

blade, I agree with you, everyone has something interesting to talk about and if the subject is not interested, then move along, as he/she is clearly not a good match..
