Random October night out

Posted by Blade On October - 17 - 2008

Decided to go out after work today. Just got back.

The funny thing about some cape town clubs is that, they only prioritize certain clientel. I.E if you are a scantily clad young woman, you’ll probably get in without the hassle of standing in a cue.

A friend a myself had to stand in a cue while 13 (yes I counted ) chicks walked right past us to get in. Now I wasn’t kitted up for a night out, I remind you we randomly decided to get out.

After getting in an old familiar feeling started rearing its head in. I started feeling self conscious and insecure. I wasn’t dressed up and the people were quite dressed up at the club.
Lots of guys feel this insecure sometimes after entering a club, party, an event or any place where attractive women are gathered.

I remembered this and realized that this is the negative thought loop I was facing.
My coping mechanism was realizing that, I was there to have fun and have a good time with my friend. The music was good and the girls hot! I remembered my top rule:
Leave your troubles, worries and insecurities at the door.

I put a smile on my face and forced myself to dance, everyone else was.
An amazing thing happened, I actually started to easy up. I noticed that no one cared who I was and what I was thinking.

I also started to notice everyone else that was having fun WITH me. I noticed the girls that enjoyed how I was dancing, I noticed how one of the guys was emulating a dance move I was doing. I noticed the same reaction the older girl behind me got when an old school tune started playing. I noticed how much more fun I was having.

All this because I decided to take control.

This is easier said than done I wont lie. But make it a conscious effort, you might be pleasantly suspired.
