I’m a big fan of stand-up comedy. There are a few good lessons you could learn from stand-up comics about interacting, not only with women, but people general.
A few characteristics you can adopt from them in order to improve your skills with women.
I have dabbled with stand-up comedy on an amateur level and plan to continue when I get to Cape Town.
Fearlessness
Women of beauty, more often than not, always travel in groups of 3 or more when going out. these groups normally consist of both males and females.
If you are not able to engage groups of people in conversation you have an extremely weak chance of getting the girl.
A standup comedian has to get over the fear of talking to large crowds of people AND the anxiety of getting them to laugh.
Another fearless thing comedians tend to do is call attention to things about us that we normally don’t talk about or void and to do this comfortably. This is a very important skill to have, being comfortable in a generally uncomfortable situation.
One of the most fearless standup comedians is Chris Rock.
Social observation
Stand-up comedians are very observant of social behaviors. They are able to pick up certain things we all do and put their own twist on them.
If you are able to read and understand the sub communications, this would greatly increase your skill with women. One of the biggest problems I hear men have with women is that they are not able to detect whether a women is interested in them at all.
You can use your social observations to start interesting conversations. Poeple love to talk about themselves and other people.
One of the best observational comedians is Jerry Seinfeld
Social savvy /Social Kung-Fu
Have you ever met one of those guys thats totally comfortable talking to absolute strangers as though they have been long lost friends?
He is able to weave and sway through the conversation easily. This is an example of a person that has what I call strong “social kung-fu”.
This skill can be translated into the comedic art of improvisation.
This is also a important skill to cultivate, the art of interesting conversation.
The best improv comedian in the world is Robin Williams.
Cool, calm and in control
Despite how dramatic some comics can be on stage, it is important to be calm, centered and in control internally. Beyond all the hype a comic needs to keep track of the timing of his punchlines, needs to know what joke follows. He has to be one step ahead of his audience at all times.
Sometimes when engaging a group you might get something thrown your way that you are totally not ready for. In this situation you need to remain cool. It’s ok to be surprised and take aback but you cannot let anything shake your foundations.
The coolest and calmest comedian I know is Mitch Hedburg
